This is for a skull mask based on the tradition of day of the dead or dia de los muertos. This is a holiday I grew up celebrating and continue this tradition today.
The mask is made from terracotta and has several layers of glazes on the surface. One half of the mask is in a pink/soft purple underglaze color then lichen glaze was painted on top. The other half was painted in a neon orange underglaze then lichen on top. The cog flowers are blue underglaze with a clear glaze. The teeth were covered in a clear glaze to look like tooth enamel. The size of the mask is 10 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. The mask has a coated copper wire attached to it so it is ready to hang.
