This skull mask is based on the tradition of day of the dead or dia de los muertos. This is a holiday I grew up celebrating and continue this tradition today.
The mask is terracotta with two diagonal majolica lines. It was smoke fired and has mica slip to give it some sparkle.
The size of the mask is 9 ¾ inches tall, 6 ¼ inches wide, and 2 ¾ inches deep. The mask has a coated copper wire attached, ready to hang. The picture of the back is representative to show the hanger. This mask may have a different clay body.
